Alessandra Akiwumi is a multi-disciplinary artist (b. 1996) based in London, UK. She predominately works as an analog photographer and writer. Her photographic projects span from editorial to alternative processes. Solely working with analog film, Akiwumi invites the viewer to engage with images differently through her treatment of the negative. Bringing pieces of her own past in the story, she weaves together faint memories and dreams to create a constructed reality, one that mirrors that of the constructed realities of phantasmagoria. Her photographic work explores the push and pull between the real and the imagined and transport the viewer to a new world.
